how_to_vote Criteria of Voting
Citizen of India having attained 18 years of age.
His/her name must appear in the Voting List of Assembly/Parliament elections, as the case may be.
He/she must have a Voter's Identity Card. In case Voter I-Card is not there, he/she can show proof of identity acceptable to the returning officer.
What Happens if You Don't Vote?
If you don't vote, you have not shown preference for anyone standing in the election. You have not accessed the statutory right given to you by the constitution for the better growth of the country. We suggest NOTA voting rather than abstaining if you do not agree with any options on the ballot.
Article 326
"The elections to the House of the People and to the Legislative Assembly of every State shall be on the basis of adult suffrage; that is to say, every person who is a citizen of India and who is not less than 18 years of age on such date as may be fixed in that behalf by or under any law made by the appropriate Legislature."
Process of Voting
Prepare documents
Valid phone number, address proof, age proof, and personal photo (JPG format).
Register online
Visit the official ECI portal: Register to Vote — complete Form 6, upload documents, and submit.
Fill Form 6
Click register for new voter ID, complete Form 6, upload documents, and submit.
